Hot-swap isolated converters for distributed systems |
| The
main application is in large systems where the front-end power
source is regulated and sub-modules need to be hot-swap redundant.
The front-end may now be single output, simplifying power distribution
through the back plane. A discussion on the pros and cons of
this architecture is contained in this PDF.
These
are semi-custom models that are designed largely by a specially
designed computer program, therefor NRE costs are very low.
Power capability ranges from a few watts up to 400W using
this technique. The patented ZVS topology results in very
high efficiency and compact size. The principle lends itself
to multiple outputs and up to 10 outputs is quite straightforward.
Isolation between the LV outputs is also easily achieved.
